CNN was launched in June of 1980 by Ted Turner and 25 other members in their Atlanta headquarters, in addition to their various bureaus across the United States. It was also the first 24 hour news broadcasting network in America. The first newscasts, anchored by Lois Hart and Dave Walker, included a prerecorded star spangled banner and an interview of former President Carter. After the network began to flourish in the early to mid-eighties, Turner moved their headquarters from a former country club in midtown, to the Omni Hotel in Downtown. To this day, Turner is credited with the revival of downtown Atlanta. One of the most famous news programs of all time is the CNN 1987 launch of Larry King live. The show ran for 25 years and was known as the highest paid television program for nearly all 25 years. Since then, CNN has continued to bring news into the homes of viewers across the globe with its world renowned international coverage.
